This project is inactive and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of World of Warcraft. The author may have abandoned it, or it may have outlived its usefulness.

Simple and light-weight tracking of profession links and recipes for all your alts and friends. Tooltip enhancements and AH/merchant coloring for professions-related recipes and items - ideal for recipe collecting, profession leveling, and any serious crafting.

NOTE: PATCH 5.4 BREAKS PV AND SIMILAR ADDONS

Blizzard has made a major change to the operation of tradeskill hyperlinks in patch 5.4.0, whose implementation seriously affects their usability and fundamentally breaks addons such as ProfessionsVault that rely upon them. Read more details here, and please help complain on the Blizzard Bug Report Forums. A recent tweet from Blizzard Community Manager Bashiok hints there may be a fix forthcoming in a future client patch, however it STILL remains broken after two client patches (5.4.2).

The current release of ProfessionsVault is a "cripped" version that omits the features which rely upon working TradeSkill links (annotated below). There is still no way to open the trade skill links for characters that are offline or you are not directly interacting with. This limitation is imposed by Blizzard's broken hyperlink implementation, as described above. Other features are fully functional, notably including recipe coloring and AH scanning. It notably also allows you to open the tradeskill windows of any same-guild toon in your database (it uses the guild roster to bypass the broken hyperlinks).

ProfessionsVault automatically records and saves the profession links of all your alts

Automated scan allows your bank character to scan the AH for recipes learnable by any alt.
Customizable recipe coloring and character name coloring

Includes an LDB broker with easy access to your professions, supports Fubar or Titan Panel, or can be used stand-alone
Based on the Ace3 Addon Framework
Enables the "link" button on all profession windows (default UI just has it for your own)
Integrates nicely with other profession-related addons such as Ackis Recipe List, Skillet, Advanced Trade Skill Window and Gnomeworks

Usage

Open the PV window using the minimap icon, LDB launcher or by typing "/pv show" on the command line.
PV window shows all the saved professions for your character, any alts on the same account running PV, and any profession links you've saved.
<Broken in 5.4> PV window also includes links to fully-stocked professions (ie containing every recipe)
Data update happens automatically whenever you open a trade skill window, or you can update them all at any time using the "Scan my Professions" button. PV will automatically update when you learn a recipe or skill up.
Config button can be used to configure tooltip/coloring integration.
To save any profession link into PV (eg whispered from a friend or in trade), just open the link and press the new "Save" button that appears at the bottom of the Trade Skill UI. The same technique can be used to merge profession data from a second account (dual-boxing).

That warning is simply making you aware that the Blizzard UI is incapable of creating a link to smelting, and hence you cannot see the smelting for another toon in the TradeSkill UI.

Yes, if you perform a scan on an alt with Inscription then PV will add it to the database so you can see it from any toon. You can perform a scan by using the "Scan My Professions" button or simply by opening the trade skill window.

Is there a way in the current release to see which professions yield a +2, +3, or +5 in skill? Because I can't really see this, I am having to relog WoW turning off Professions Vault so I can see the actual skill- up yield

I'm using Profession's Vault and I am having zero issue with it displaying the skill-up yield...all my recipes have their 2, 3, or 5 displayed properly without having to turn off PV...so I'm thinking this may be a conflict between PV and some other addon you are using...

Very nice work on this addon.

One minor feature request: it'd be nice if there was an option to make the addon less verbose. Personally I'd prefer to not have a dialog opened up in addition to the chat log being spammed every time I learn a recipe... a one liner in the chat window telling me a new recipe was added is more than sufficient, and would make learning 10 recipes in a row (and clicking "ok" 10 times) a little less tedious. Heck, for that matter the "gained a level" notification in the chat window is a bit unnecessary as well.

Limitations in the API require the prompt (under most circumstances) to perform a scan on recipe learn.

You can avoid the prompt by leaving the profession window open while you learn recipes, or you can disable the auto-update feature entirely with the "Scan on Recipe Learn" checkbox under configuration.

Is ProfessionVault using a third party API?

I guess my thought was an option to "auto confirm", with you just passing a dummy confirmation into the API, as opposed to requiring user interaction.

Having it automatically scan is very nice. Having the ProfessionVault addon in your face requiring you to do something every time you learn a recipe isn't quite as nice.

I meant the Blizzard API, which requires a hardware event (ie a mouse click from the user) in order to open any profession window (yes, it's stupid, but that's how it is). So unless you already have the appropriate profession window open, PV needs a click from the user in order to open it and perform a scan when you learn a recipe. Note if you're learning several recipes at once you can also ignore the prompt until after the last one.

If you don't like this auto scan behavior, you can also disable the option I mentioned and PV will update the next time you open that profession window or perform a scan.

Two suggestions to an otherwise great addon.
1) I could see great use of adding information to the tooltip about where you could buy a certain recipe at a vendor.
2) Even better would be to be able to remove certain characters from professionvaults overview. E.g. I have bankalts (that I have lvld up for certain abilities) and therefore have some professions lvld to a certain lvl. But I would really like them not to show up when searching ah, it confuses me that a recipe is green and when looking at the tooltip, I see that a bankalt can learn it. Not useful information.
How about it? :-)

You should be able to right click on the alt's data and delete it. When you login to that bankalt you just need to keep clicking that you don't want PV to scan your professions at login. There is another addon that has the functionality that you are looking for in your first question. It's called Ackis Recipe list. It a large addon becuase of the sheer amount of data.

Another solution is to simply right-click the bank alt in the PV window and uncheck "Is an alt" - this will cause PV to treat that character as an "other" (ie not an alt) and if you uncheck "other" in the Recipe Data options those characters won't appear in tooltips or be used in recipe coloring.

got same problem here.. also noticed that when u open [/pv show] its not showing enchanting or jc under the diff toons [for me, might be diff for others]... even after scans.. tries rescanning at every login or /reload yet it wont save them

not sure if i just need to change something, but since the updated version i've had the scan professions window pop up every time i log in to my character. is there any way i can turn this off since i've scanned my professions already?

Not sure if I missed it somewhere, but it would be great if it told me what recipes I have in my bank.

I'm currently working on my cooking for instance, doing dala and cata dailies, but cooking is really low level so I'm buying up the recipes as I get enough awards to buy them and storing them in the bank.

However I find I have to keep running to the bank to check what recipes I have so I don't buy them twice...

Recipe book used to tell me in the tooltip "banked by altnamehere" is it possible for you to integrate something like that? ITs mostly the reason I used it, so I knew if I came across a recipe that my alt needed it, or my bank char had it banked already etc.
