RangeDisplay
Estimated range display. Type /rangedisplay for configuration or /rangedisplay locked to lock/unlock the frames.
RangeDisplay is a simple range display addon. It is using spell range, item range and interact-distance based checks to determine the approximate range to your current target. Due to the whackyness of interact-distance based checks, recent versions only use those when spell/item based checks are not possible . The display can be configured in many ways (displaying only the max range, adding border and background, etc).
Currently you can set up RangeDisplay to show your current range to your target, focus, pet and mouseover units. The mouseover unit range can be anchored to the mouse or placed at a fixed position.
New in v3.8.0: It is possible to add sound notifications to "range sections" (similar to color setting). The sound will be played when entering the section. If two sections have the same sound file attached to them, then the sound is not played again if switching between the two sections.
This sound notification is enabled by default for the target unit's close range section.
Displaying max range only: if you want to display only the maxRange, you need to set Text to "%d" and tick the Reverse option for the section(s).
Hello,
"Better" is rather funny in this context, as apparently you want the look-and-feel that HaloPro provides. Both use LibRangeCheck to estimate ranges, so there shouldn't be a difference there. I don't plan adding a HaloPro-like appearance for RangeDisplay. Try convincing HaloPro's author to add an option to enable the range-bar for other classes, too, based on a 0-50yd range or something. It's probably a lot easier than adding this functionality to RangeDisplay.

Just found this today (v4.2.3) while looking for a replacement for UrbinRange which quit working with the last update. It works for my Hunter, with one gotcha.
I have both modules turned on (RangeDisplay, RangedDisplay Options), but when I go into 'Interface/Addons' and click on 'RangeDisplay' all I get is a blank window. No '+' next to 'RangeDisply' in the addons list and no options text etc. at all. Neither am I getting any LUA errors to give me a clue why the options aren't showing up.
It's working just fine (like it better than UrbinRange, actually), but I can't change any options. The only thing I want to change is the text size, which I assume is one of the options Heh, at the moment though, I can't even see what options are available!
Edit:
I just got the RangeDisplay options to show up in the 'Interface/Addons'. I got a brain flash and typed in '/rangedisplay' in the chat window just for grins and, lo and behold, all of the options popped up in the 'Interface/Addons' window. If I log out and bring in another character I have to re-type the chat window command again to re-activate RangeDisplay in the 'Interface/Addons' window list of addons. Maybe a condition check not working in your 'Interface/Addons' panel code sub-routine(s)???
Hello,
Blizzard's interface options panel is notoriously broken in mysterious ways, but I think I fixed the issue in v4.2.4.

Great addon! Was wondering, would it be possible to make a customizable (sizewise) square frame, where the edge is coloured depending on range?
Used to use UrbinRange for this, but it's been out of date for ages, and finally broke yesterday. Can give you an SS for inspiration if you like.
You can duplicate the UrbinRange look-and-feel by enabling background, select Solid as background texture, add a border, enable "Use Section Colors" for the background and edit the texts / colors for your sections as you like (for example, set text to "Melee Range" for the 0-5yd section). You can also adjust the width/height in the background section of the configuration.
Hope this helps,

Very useful addon especially for Halo :) Thank you!
When I load range display options, this come up,: Failed to load RangeDisplay_Options: DISABLED
Help lol?
Sounds like you disabled RangeDisplay_Options from the Addon menu
Does this addon have the ability to tell me the distance between my hunter pet and my target? Specifically I am a BM hunter, and with the 25y requirement on KC, I'm wanting a way to track distance when moving between targets.
If this addon does not do that, do you know if it's even possible or if another addon might handle this type of situation? I know this is all very specific, just hoping I can find something like this soon. Thanks!
Hello,
RangeDisplay can only check distances measured relative to the player. I don't think it's possible to query other distances the way RD does, so what you ask for cannot be done.

Is this going to be given a update so that one doesn't have to load out of date addons any time soon ? x3
The latest release should be working fine (v4.2.2).

Display on Mouse is no where near mouse pointer. It's placed much farther to the left, by 2-2.5in. I looked over all available settings and didn't see anything I could edit to correct this issue. Is there anything I can manually configure to correct this?
1) unlock the RangeDisplay frames (for example type /rangedisplay locked)
2) move the "mouseover" rectangle near to the green hand icon in the middle of the screen (where you want it to be relative to the cursor)
3) lock the RangeDisplay frames again ( /rangedisplay locked)

While in Moonkin and Travel form the ranges for enemies between 25 to melee are incorrect and erratic. Cat/Bear/Caster all appear correct but shifting into Moonkin or Travel breaks it, display two different ranges without ever moving.
Please try the v4.2.1 release.

What ranges are displayed exactly? The issue might be that in one form it is possible to provide more accureate range estimate. If the range in one form is 5-10 and in the other it's 5-8 then it's perfectly normal. On the other hand, if the range in one form is 5-10 and in the other it's 20-30 or something else completely different from the first one, then it's a bug. Could you clarify?
thanks

Thank you for fixing the 45 yard problem. :D Once that guy reported what was causing it, it wasn't so bad knowing when I needed to quickly /reloadui to fix it. But man, so glad it's been taken care of.
any chance for a Symbiosis-bugfix?
enemies = 45yards
friends = 35yards
Sucks!
Hopefully fixed in v4.2.0
