Rarity
NEW:
- Support for Cataclysm Classic (experimental)
- Rarity now has a Discord server!

Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.

Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

Hi :)
Love your addon!
Im just missing a couple of things.
1. Can you get a undefeated/defeated flag for more of the mounts? http://imgur.com/QtVib4g , I understand that some of them are not doable, but cant you add for like Ashes of al'ar for instance?
2. Can you get a new tab and add reputation mounts? I know its not related to "rarity" because its a vendor item, but i love the way your addon displays what im missing and how to get them :)
1. Why doesn't Rarity have defeat detection for Ashes of Al'ar, Swift White Hawkstrider, or Smoldering Egg of Millagazor?
Rarity's defeat detection doesn't support having a boss in two places at once simultaneously. Kael'thas Sunstrider and Ragnaros exist in two instances at once. This is a known issue.
2. Understandable request. Reins of the Crimson Water Strider and Bristling Hellboar for example are part of rarity and they both are vendor items.
On the other hand look at your tooltip. It only shows the mounts and is already huge. Now imagine all the 50, 100 or even more reputaion mounts, pets and toys were added.
1. Ahh I see :) Hopefully it will be available as the addons developes ^^
2. Just a list of different factions, dont need to list all the mounts. More like a list of factions and how much rep you got with them and how to earn rep and so on.....
Reputations and their associated items are out of scope for Rarity at this time. :)
So I have SexyMaps installed as well, but the minimap button for Rarity does not fade out like the other addon buttons. There's not even an option for the Rarity button under Interface > Addons > SexyMap > Buttons > Addon Buttons. Am I missing something or is the Rarity minimap button just not compatible with SexyMap?
After enabling Rarity's mini-map icon, reload your UI. It then appears in SexyMap. Just tested.

Did the game crash? Did you delete your saved variables? I can't think of any other reason.
My rarity keeps resetting it self. Twice now. So i lost my attemps on rare mounts.
Any reason as to why?

My rarity addon has reset itself twice now, so i have lost how many attemps i have done on certain rares, any one know why?
Hey!
I found out that Rarity sets my Collections to the Toys tab no matter what i do.
Since i do lots of Pet Battles this is pretty much annoying.
Is there any possibility to change the default tab to Pets?
thx
Rarity doesn't do this for me, and I do pet battles too. Check to see if another addon is causing this?
It is Rarity i checked every Addon. When i test with everything deactivated its always Rarity which keeps setting the Collection to Toys.
I'll take a look.
So Rarity definitely does this, but at the moment it doesn't look like something I can fix. I'll keep investigating.
Hi
I'm fishing for Old Crafty, and my number of attempts won't update when I auto loot. The number of attempts does update when I do not use auto loot (i.e., loot each fish one at a time). I did not notice this behavior with auto loot on any other type of farmable item.
Thanks!
Edit: Resolved. AutoLootPlus was looting so fast that Rarity didn't have a chance to track it.
For others reading this, here's the relevant answer from the FAQs (I added AutoLootPlus thanks to you):
Rarity isn't counting my loots. Why?
Rarity has known conflicts with certain auto-loot add-ons, particularly Magnet Continued and AutoLootPlus. Unfortunately, these add-ons severely modify the game's normal loot system and are not compatible with Rarity. They must be disabled.
Hello,
When I kill Primordius in 10-man normal Throne of Thunder for the Dark Quivering Blob (which is listed as any difficulty except LFR), the Quivering Blob (which is listed as LFR only) is also set to "defeated". Am I missing something, or is this a bug?
Defeat detection doesn't consider difficulty due to limitations in how that code operates. Sorry about that! It's up to you to do it on the right difficulty.
Is there a way to significantly customize the way that Rarity's UI functions? By default it has the most irritating and distracting behavior of any addon I've seen. I have a long history of re-engineering everything to suit my needs, but didn't make progress doing do with Rarity. My wife and I both separately experimented with it and rejected it for the same reasons, which we discovered after the fact. Most annoying of all is the mouseover behavior that instantly - with no delay - initiates this GIANT almost-full-screen dialog every time the mouse even accidentally wanders over its (LDB) icon. This behavior occurs whether that icon is attached to the minimap or absorbed into an LDB tool like Chocolate Bar. Beyond that the UI is sufficiently dense and impenetrable that neither I nor my wife - both Mensa members and I with some career programming experience - could quickly figure out how to make effective use of it. We could clearly see that all the necessary useful information for decision-making is "in there", but its presentation was indigestible. The flat outline format didn't work for either of us.
Is this a damnation of it? No. It's a criticism. We are both quick studies generally, moreso than most people, and we know it; if we have difficulty making effective use of something, then there is likely room for usability improvement. I don't know if we can directly contribute to that end, but the end is still there to achieve.
