Rarity
NEW:
- Support for Cataclysm Classic (experimental)
- Rarity now has a Discord server!
If you're interested in following the development process or contributing, you should also check out the official GitHub repository. We're always in need of more hands to help us make the addon better!
Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.
Looking for Rarity Item Packs? Click here.
Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

That item uses kill statistics: https://www.wowhead.com/achievement=9365/warlord-blackhand-kills-mythic-blackrock-foundry
If the total count as displayed ingame doesn't match what you see in your character's statistics, there may be cached attempts from another character in Rarity's database (SavedVariables). This could happen if characters are renamed or moved, as the old entry would still have some attempts that Rarity will add to the total (but you wouldn't).
To find out whether or not this is the case, you'd have to check the Rarity.lua file in the saved variables folder and see if old characters still appear. Allara has posted some instructions on how to remove them if you'd like to try: https://www.wowace.com/projects/rarity?comment=162
As always, make sure to create a backup first before tampering with the database.
In reply to Cakechart:
ty I had a look through and couldn't find the the issue, so I just screenshooted my tooltip and deleted the lua's and just logged every toon again and filled in the blanks, hoping after reset it adds singles for the blackhand kills
Heya I just started using this addon and I gotta say its amazing!!! I recently started farming the Tiny (Green,Blue,Red,White) Carp to add to my collection/sell them but when I fish, rarity doesnt detect the attempts on them. I dont know if this is working as intended! Im using Fishing Buddy to track my attempts! But the satisfaction of seeing an "achievement pop" its so satisfactory!
Keep doing a great work!
In reply to CerekPR:
Unfortunately, those items aren't currently supported. From the FAQ (https://www.wowace.com/projects/rarity/pages/faq):
Hi,
This addon basically says I can find the Goldenmane's mount in The Brineworks, wowhead says it can also drop in other locations. Will this addon be updated to reflect the different locations for this mount?
In reply to jiveturkey71:
Back when the item was added, those didn't appear in wowhead's data. I've (re-)added all the NPCs that wowhead currently lists in the latest alpha.
Hi Cakechart,
Rarity - Toys & Items: Words of Akunda (from Voldunai Supplies)
Rarity - Toys & Items: Kojo's Master Matching Set (Tortolian Supplies)
Both this items never made it into the game according to https://www.wowhead.com/item=165021/words-of-akunda#comments and https://www.wowhead.com/item=166851/kojos-master-matching-set#comments
In reply to thahustler:
Thanks! I've removed them in the latest alpha.
Hi, great addon, wish i found it earlier, it takes a lot of tension away around getting dropped mounts etc :-)
Got a question, found that the usual spot to fish for Pond Nettle can't be used anymore because "Cast didn't land in fishable water" i went onto wowhead https://www.wowhead.com/item=152912/pond-nettle#comments and found the comment by Dragula14662 saying this:
As of 8.1.5 a lot of the old fishable spots are unable to be fished for the water not being fishable. At exactly 44:62.1 in Krokuun you can fish in one of the pools. Some casts may not make it off but you have to be exactly in that spot facing the waterfall. Hope that helps.
I went to the mentioned spot, i can fish there but the addon isn't counting my casts, could you adjust that?
Thanks in advance! :-)
In reply to Forge_User_17970088:
If I read that correctly, there's a bug preventing anyone from obtaining the mount in Krokuun and Mac'aree. I can look into adding the specific subzones that aren't on the list of eligible zones, however that won't be very helpful if the mount can't actually be fished there.
In reply to Cakechart:
If you read the comment of GuybrushFawkes (latest comment atm) you can see that it can actually be fished up in Krokuun and there's a few others reporting they fished it up in Krokuun instead of Antoran Wastes.
It's your choice because i don't know whether Krokuun has always been a possible spot to fish it up or it's a workaround for the bug that's currently preventing ppl from fishing in lava on the Antoran Wastes.
In reply to Forge_User_17970088:
Ah, I see. I've simply added the remaining zones to the detection. This should be a workable solution and is already included in the latest alpha :)
In reply to Cakechart:
Thank you :-)
Moving Nat's Lucky Coins from bank to bags triggered completion on the mount and two pets I have yet to purchase. Only had 83 coins when this triggered.
In reply to anubis06660:
That's very odd, and probably difficult to reproduce since I don't have those coins. Unfortunately, detection for items that suddenly appear in the player's inventory isn't always perfect, but I'm not sure if it can be (easily) fixed.
I'll see if there's something to be done about items that use the collection method (such as those you mentioned).

Hi, would it be possible to fix attempts detection for KR & Underrot mounts on Mythic+ ? they all work in mythic 0 but only sharkbait works for Mythic+ actually
In reply to Forge_User_51895700:
There appear to be some issues with Blizzard's statistics. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to find a better way to track those runs right now, but I'm aware and it's on the list.
Hi,
I'm getting a freeze on every login on every character, it's the only thing stopping me from using your addon :(
I have tried with no addons, clearing cache, etc, and also multiple restarts of the game and what not.

I'm on a high end rig with low world MS (16gb ddr4, 8700k etc).
Any ideas on this one? I'm not sure if this is normal behaviour or not?
Many thanks,
In reply to Forge_User_69960141:
Is it the first time you've used Rarity or did this occur after an update? Also, does it still happen if you disable all other addons and only load Rarity?
In reply to Cakechart:
Hey,
This is the first time, yeah. I've disabled all other addons and then then it goes to around 300~ms. Is this normal? Any ideas what I could try?
