Rarity
NEW: Rarity now has a Discord server!
If you're interested in following the development process or contributing, you should also check out the official GitHub repository. We're always in need of more hands to help us make the addon better!
Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.

Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

I noticed that if you find an item that rarity is counting the kills and you are in a group where you have to roll for it, you get that achievement like frame twice and also twice the notice in the tooltip showing this information: found that rare item after x tries and found that item after 0 tries if you won that roll.
thank you for this addon by the way. i'm happy having an addon that makes me not feeling like wasting my time farming something but instead give me a feeling of my progress.
You're welcome! I'll need a bit more information, specifically which item you had this issue with. There a LOT of items in Rarity!
Sorry i gave no precise answer to the start. so far i had this with primal eggs. i accidently sold one to a vendor and rebuying it made rarity think i just got one.
skyshard is the 2nd item i got it with. i lootet a mob with that item in it, rarity got that achievement frame and on winning the roll i got that frame again.
The same with the primal egg : I found one, but bags were full. Sell gray items and looted the egg again makes rarity counting it twice.
But then counter freezes to 0 when killing other direhorns (was ther for the pet)
The new mounts from the Zandalari Warbringer are not displayed in the tooltip, it's because they are listed as "dropped from boss" instead of "dropped from NPCs"?
Uncheck "Hide high chance items" from within the Options screen. I just pushed out a new build that makes this the default.
When first installing this addon, a lot of mounts gets data from amount of kills (e.g. Ashes of Al'ar)..
How come, Deathchargers Reins doesn't do this also? Baron is in the statistics, so it should be easy to get, like the others..
The statistic for Baron was bugged, so it cannot be used. If Blizzard fixed it, let me know and I can reinstate. You should go kill him once and observe if the statistic goes up.
Killed him once, and statistics went from 27 (much too low number, but probably just because it have been bugged like you mention) to 28..
AddOn went from 0 to 1 tries :(
Thanks for checking that. I'll put the statistic back in for the next build.
I can verify pet scanning only works for pets that your current character acquired prior to 5.0. I'll provide an update in the future to include scanning for battle pets across your account. Surprised nobody mentioned this until now! Unfortunately I already had all the pets prior to 5.0 so I couldn't really notice it.
Unfortunately, this is a major change that will require a lot of development time. I am extremely busy with other projects and will not be able to get to this for several weeks. I do apologize for the inconvenience. Meanwhile, you can manually mark it off your list using the options UI.
This works properly for me. You can go in and manually uncheck it from tracking if needed, though.
I can ScreenShot it, if you need to see it?
Just installed this Addon, and it seems like a nice one..
However, (with default settings), Azure Whelpling is listed as "Already Known" (correct), but Dark Whelpling isn't (wrong, as I have this too).
Bug?
Go into the options and uncheck Hide high chance items (that may not be the exact wording).
for some reason the new items are not tracking in the tooltip, its tracking say son of animis and my attempts and 10% in the data broker but when I hover over it , and the tooltip meno drops down I dont see sone of animus anywhere under companions. nor any mount or pet from 5.2 execpt nalak
As a high-ranking mount/pet collector, I tend to forgtet where I obtained a certain pet or mount. This is phenomenal. Love it!
Not at this time. No plans for it.
aww
ok X_X
thanks for answering at least
is there anyway i can modify the addon? or a similar addon for loot annoucnemtns? just wondering
Just turn off the announcements if you don't want them happening on every attempt, or change where it announces. I don't currently have plans for announcements on obtaining, due to limitations in how that code works.
