Rarity
NEW: Rarity now has a Discord server!
If you're interested in following the development process or contributing, you should also check out the official GitHub repository. We're always in need of more hands to help us make the addon better!
Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.

Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

@Allara
lol ok, fair enough. Looks like I get to change my oozing farming toon that doesn't already have it!
Sorry, Rarity doesn't support repeated farming of the Oozeling. It's the only repeatable pet that it does not support. The explanation of why is too complicated for a non-developer. Sorry for the inconvenience!
I farm the Disgusting Oozeling all the time, and for whatever reason, I can't enable the tracking for it. As in, it's listed in the options, and I click the box and it doesn't take. Any ideas?
None of the Archeology pets are included in the default, any chance of adding them?
The archaeology pets aren't very rare and which one(s) are rare for you depends on what you've been doing. I don't want to clutter up the add-on with them at this time, but that's why I gave you the ability to add your own items. It should take very little time to add whichever pets you want.
If so it is tagging the pet ammount as mounts and the mounts as pets (e.g telling me i have 120 pets on the mounts tab and 140 mounts on the pets tab), they are the wrong way round with the info.
If this does not do then then it has to be ackis recipe list or collectinator (of which i have also made a simular post about).
In that time i have not seen a razzashi hatchling drop (wondering if this is one you cannot get again if already have it) as some seem to be like that.
Didnt know there was an add-on out there that could count how many casts for sea turtle (ok seen you do not have this working yet as it is pools), but hyacinth Macaw, Baradin Fox and Firefly (3 drop ones i have left).
I may also need to look into exchanging alliance pets for horde ones (e.g quest token handins from icecrown) or other such things before i may be able to get the 150 companion pet achievement (currently at 132/133).
Rarity does not show 97% with 900 kills. Go check it again. Rarity has the Fox Kit as a 1 in 1000 chance, whereas Bunny Hunter has it as 1 in 200. If you wish to change the chance, you can do so through the options interface. Nobody knows the true drop rate at this time, it might very well be 1 in 10000.
Regarding the Fox Kit. I have close to 900 kills and both BH and this addon says I should have a 97+ of finding it by now. Is the drop chance right for it? I have heard that all zone drops are now 1 in 10k. I know BH says the drop chance is 1/200 does rarity think so as well?
@solipsist
I just tried to reproduce the issue, and I can confirm that fishing does not seem to be working at this time. Give me some time to investigate the issue and I'll hopefully post a fix soon. Thanks! ;)
Somehow i have problems letthing the addon counting from fishing from pools I have read the FAQ, and have done as suggested, but i never had one occurence where it actually worked.
Perhaps i'm doing it all wrong, and i'd like some help with this I have created a fraps movie, and uploaded it onto youtube. I disabled every addon except for rarity and titan panel I'm fishing from a pool in uldum, and hover my mouse in and out the pool (so it can detect it?) unfortunately i haven't been successfull.
This is the link to the youtube movie i made.
Am i doing something wrong? if not, is there anything i can do to help you? If it's impossible to fix this, i have peace with that as well :) i just wanted to raise this one up :)
Thank you for your time.
