Tank Warnings

This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of World of Warcraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.

Tank Warnings is a simple addon to warn configurable messages upon certain events related to tanking, like Taunt resists or usage of special mitigation abilities that are usually used in emergencies, like Shield Wall and so on.

Supports Warriors, Druids, Paladins and Death Knights, as well as integration with BigWigs creating global or local timers for specific abilities.

Messages can be sent to scrolling combat text addons as well as common channels like Raid Warning, Raid, Party, custom channel names, etc.

This would be a perfect addon for a DK if it had something for death grip being resisted / immune other than that, very nice mod

Yeah, If this did get an update, it would be great if it could not send those messages during WG. Surprising how many people apparently have a big deal with /rw >> Barksin Used <<.

Disabling an event (i.e. a specific action) does not work, it still announces it. Also, the option for disabling Tank Warnings in battlegrounds doesn't work, at least not in Wintergrasp. I know you're planning a rewrite, so I just wanted you to be aware of these problems.

Cant help but notice there is no option for Vampiric blood, or unbreakable armor CDs.(maybe even hungering cold)

This needs a rewrite/update for WoW 3.0.8 (released Jan 20/09) and/or the current 3.0.9. It doesn't work properly anymore. WoW 3.0.8 introduced some large changes to the combat log/chat/etc..

Have rarely played my (70) warrior alt since the expansion; maybe a handful of times. Each time I've been in an instance party since Jan. 20, though (most recently today), this has refused to work properly.

Missed Taunts, Mocking Blows and the like are hard to be sure of. But--for sure--abilities like Shield Wall, Last Stand & Challenging Shout (that I have to manually activate) are never announced to party chat when I use them. Despite being checkmarked in options and despite knowing that this mod used to work properly in the past.

Also, heading into its options to make everything is checkmarked properly (which they were in the Blizzard panel), tried out unchecking "Disable in PvP". It refused to uncheck and an error was thrown up:

Switched over in the middle of the run to the more recently updated OptiTaunt mod. OptiTaunt announced everything properly from then on.

I moved to TankWarnings from OptiTaunt long ago because I preferred the way it worked. And it used to work great. So I look forward to this being updated to work properly with the current live WoW patches :).

I would really like to see the paladin's new taunt; Hand of Reckoning, added to the pally part of this. It would be very helpful due to its our 1st taunt that works like a true taunt and has no glyph to increase it's chance to hit.

I'm thinking of a rewrite in that one would be able to customize alot more, making trivial adding new warning abilities and thinking of a way of creating simple rules of when and when not to warn abilities usage.

Planning atm, bear with me, life's haven't been easy, I'll more news soon (tm).

Hey, if we're adding in Lichborne and Unbreakable Armor, it might be worth it to add a Vampiric Blood warning. VB is the equivalent to a warrior's Last Stand (less health, but added healing), same CD's as IBF and UA, etc.

I'm only asking because I might experiment with a Blood tank spec and I want people to know if I'm gettin' my ass kicked.

Found a bug as DK. I wanted to remove the spam from IBF so I unclicked the option to announce IBF. Problem is it still keeps announcing when I am using IBF and it is annoying as hell since it is up so often (every 1 min).

if you like dueling at all, don't get this addon. It's not fun when you see that you are announcing all your survivability moves as a feral druid to you enemy.

Thanks, rbarrienos. I think the one I care about the most (of course, personal selfish me :( ) is the integration with DBM. And don't worry, get your life stuff sorted out. I really appreciate the great addon you've created.

New thing:

Can you make the timer bars compatible with DBM? The new DBM 4.05 is way better than any BigWigs I've ever used but I'd still like to see those bars countdown, if possible.
