Track-o-Matique
Track-o-Matique is considered obsolete due to the removal of the Improved Tracking talent in 4.0.1.
Thank you for your patronage.
Track-o-Matique
Automatic tracking of the current target's creature type. For the discerning PvE hunter.
First and foremost targeted at the talent Improved Tracking, but it seems like it may be useful even outside of that.
Regarding the 3.0.8 Imp. Tracking mechanics change
As you all know, Improved Tracking got completely changed with 3.0.8, largely obsoleting the then-current version of Track-o-Matique. It doesn't completely remove the usefulness of this add-on however, so version 2.7 introduces the concept of "lazy tracking". With lazy tracking on, it will only update tracking types if you're tracking something that wouldn't grant the Improved Tracking bonus. This leads to less time spent swapping tracking types, and more time pew-pewing :)
Usage
Track-o-Matique can be used in one of two modes - automatic or manual. When in automatic mode, it will notice whenever you change your target and update your tracking to that creature type, if possible and necessary (depending on whether "lazy tracking" is enabled). It automatically ignores targets that are dead or otherwise not attackable. If you're busy (e.g. casting Steady Shot or channeling Volley) when you swap targets, Track-o-Matique will queue up the tracking change and switch as soon as you stop casting - this way it is guaranteed that you'll get the most out of your Improved Tracking talent.
If you prefer to not trust an add-on in fully automatic mode, you can use the manual mode and just add /tom to your attack macro(s) to ensure whatever you're attacking is tracked.
Configuration
Track-o-Matique sports flexible configuration for when to enable automatic tracking:
- Only while in Party/Raid
- Only while spec'd for Improved Tracking
- Only while in Combat Some of these are also available as keybinds for quick-toggling.
Additionally, you also have the option of restoring your previous tracking type when leaving combat. This is quite handy to switch back to tracking of resource nodes (mines, flowers, etc) whenever you're not in combat.
If you PvP, you might want to consider using the "Ignore Druids" option, which will stop you from changing tracking every time a targeted druid shape-shifts.
All configuration is done via the regular Interface options screen (Escape -> Interface -> AddOns -> Track-o-Matique). You can also use /track-o-matique to jump straight to the config screen.
Localization
The later versions of Track-o-Matique support localization, and work with the following clients:
- US English
- German
- French (configuration screen not yet localized)
- Russian (may not be 100% localized)
- Spanish (configuration screen not yet localized)
- Chinese

Reporting bugs
If you find something that isn't working, please raise a ticket. I try to monitor the comments regularly, but if you raise a ticket I'll actually get an email about it, and won't miss it. Thanks!
Also, for those of you who don't read the Changes page:
Track-o-matique should now not only not have the wave-the-arm-in-the-air loop, it also supports that annoying Night Elf skill "Shadowmeld".
I'll need
a) Debug output from when it's going haywire (screenshot is fine)
b) A list of what add-ons you have installed (so I can download the same and try to reproduce it)
My best guess right now is that some other add-on is somehow interfering with the tracking updates and preventing them from going through. Tracking bar/Minimap/Action bar/Unit frame type add-ons considered the most likely to stuff around in this area, but the problem could be elsewhere.
It might be useful for you to know that Track-o-Matique verifies that the right tracking option has been enabled by essentially looking at the tracking icon image on the minimap (assuming a standard Blizz UI). An add-on that customizes this image could potentially prevent Track-o-Matique from discovering that its tracking update has succeeded. I'm not saying this is the definite cause, but it seems a possibility at this stage.
The thing is, Track-o-Matique already has built-in protection against getting stuck in a loop - if it doesn't succeed in activating the right tracking option within 5 seconds it will print a message saying so, and stop trying. If it even goes 2 seconds without succeeding a tracking change, it will reload its internal state just to make sure it's not using stale information (and trying to track something you no longer can track, for example).
Even if there was another add-on that instantly flipped the tracking to something else, Track-o-Matique should not try to correct that until you retarget, enter combat, or do something that changes the player model (mounting, drawing weapons, summoning pet, etc). I'm really at a loss to explain what you and others are seeing :(
Without seeing what gets printed with Debug turned on, I'm not sure I can fix this. On the positive side, it should be very easy to work out once I do have the debug output. So, please help me help you and get that debug output to me. Either in a ticket (link above), or a comment will do.
Thanks!
Don't know what's causing it but suddenly something starts activating tracking constantly.
Getting a lot of "red" errors.
It might also be some conflict with XTrackBar though (XBar)... or XTrackBar alone that's causing it.
It may just be a Blizzard problem with tracking, since I got other problems regarding tracking.
Hopefully I'll raid tonight and test it some more.
