Anyone else having problems where messages sent from other people are not saving in the history log? it only shows the messages I sent out not recieved. It works fine for Realid friends but not just ones I add via add friend =/ thanks!
I have been experiencing the same issue Carman1998 posted about. WIM history is not storing the messages people send to me. It only records the messages I have sent out. I am not sure when this problem started, but I believe it started after patch 5.4.7 was downloaded. A fix for this would be very appreciated.
Having a problem with WIM where I go to and review my old messages. It only show the one I've sent out but can't see the ones that other people sent to me. Is there going to be a fix for this soon?
Currently, WIM isn't saving the messages of non-battletag people. It will save my messages in the conversation, but it doesn't save the messages of other people. Any help?
@mysticalos
i had posted a week or so ago some issues that is happening since the patch and i see that a few others are having same issue .. was this not fixed in this new update? is it going to be fixed anytime soon?
Im not sure if this is what does it but Its like the "intercept slash command" option isn't working anymore since patch 5.42
r394 or higher will now save all realid and battletag convos under users battletag instead of toonname. This should aggregate all conversations far more cleanly. When realid convo saving was originally added, blizz encoded player name and gave us no other way to save it but tooname. Now, it is possible to save it under btag so that should be much better.
I've searched their forum but couldn't find an answer: Does somebody know if there's an option to save a conversation I have with somebody via his Battletag name to ONE history?
Here's an example: I'm on my hunter, he's on his priest, we talk. He relogs to his monk, we keep chatting in the same window (I see his Battetag Name, it just changes colors depending on his charakter's class). I change to my monk, he relogs to his deathknight,... All the time, we keep chatting. At the end of the night, if I want to re-read our conversation, I have to remember when who of us logged to which charakter and have to solve a (sometimes huge) puzzle :/ Both of us have multiple charakters, so sometimes, it takes more then an hour to go through every charakter of mine to piece our conversation back together.
Is there a solution to this problem? Or at least some kind of work-around :)? I've used Whisp before someone told me about this addon and there I had a history which was linked to the battletag-name, so I think, it might be possible here, too.
I had the same problem as well (no WIM window, just the "/w Name" in the text field, then I made the mistake of deleting WIM and reinstalling it. Not only did I lose all of my whisper history (my own fault, I thought I had backed up the folder), but now whispers don't work at all! Not in the normal text window (I checked to make sure it's enabled) and no WIM window.
I wish someone would fix this.
@txh2oskier50 and @Corrram same problem for me too!
if i click on a player name inside the general/trade chat tab it sends the name (Tell <name>) in this window and not in the WIM window! This not happen if i click on RealdID friend on the same window.. in this case i will get the wim window!
@txh2oskier50
I have noticed the exact same problem. I hope they are able to correct it.
After the patch today .. 5.4.2, when i go to message someone .. it sends the message in the default ui message box. I used to be able to click on a guildie or go to message someone and the im box would pop open and id type the message there.. i cant seem to get that back . .any help would be appreciated.
I tried to go to the WIM site (http://www.wimaddon.com/forums/) to see if there was any reports of this issue or make a post there but i am not a registered member and when i tried to register . it said they were disabled . so not much i could do.
I had this issue for many years now, and it just doesn't get fixed, so I thought I would say something. Everytime anyone sends a message to me via gchat I get the following message. Message: SendChatMessage(): Invalid escape code in chat message
I use both PRAT and Wim, but I think it's WIM causing this issue, but I could be wrong.

There are still some virtual realm kinks to work out, but they are not yet enabled yet on live (at least not for my realm) so it's difficult to work on right now. For most part, wim works with 5.4 though minus the fact window creation will screw up on virtual realm whispers.
@kbernabe410
You should get into the habit of backing up your chat log. The addons can help, but you still need to back up your primary chat log on occasion. This is easily done by making sure the logs folder is backed up AND that you have turned on the chat log
Ever since I saw my WIM asking for update on my Curse Client, I clicked it to update. When I logged in-game, all my chat transcripts from every single type of chat available in WoW from May 12, 2012 to July 31, 2013 are all gone,….wiped out. This bothers me very much, because I use these transcripts for proofs of my reports to Blizzard Entertainment and to anyone who need to see proof of anything I experience in-game. I need to have this all restored with every ounce of effort. Some issues in these transcripts I actually consult with Blizzard Entertainment about very recently.
Hi! Question: I'm trying to set up my wife's WIM to look and act like mine (I've been using WIM forever!). I can get the whispers in the same tabbed window, but cannot figure out how to get the guild messages in the same window as the whispers. Basically, I have mine set up where guild chat and whispers are all tabs in the same window, and I want hers to act the same. I've been through the settings several times, but just must be overlooking that one checkbox or something. Any pointers is seriously appreciated!
BTW, this addon is absolutely genius!
The other day I was texting a very helpful fellow hunter from a different realm. The hunter gave me a WoW address, I think (character name plus some numbers) I didn't take time to write it down thinking I would get it from the log later. I looked in the log after returning from a break. This player wasn't there. I looked more and no player from another realm was there. Have I installed something wrong or is there a solution? With the number of x-realm players there are some days I don't see one from my realm except for guild members.
This is a great addon, but there's one bug that's been, erm, bugging me: when I go back to look at my history, WIM incorrectly parses messages that were sent at the same time (think 2-3 WoW "paragraphs"). It doesn't seem to have a particular rhyme or reason, even though the log file will preserve the correct order of messages. Will it be possible to fix this?
I'm still getting a fading issue even though I'm up to date. I click on the window to type and it's staying faded (when it shouldn't be) then I click off (when it should fade) and it's brightening as though I'm typing.
@Rodriqo
Should be fixed in r366 alpha and later.
