Broker_Portals

Table of Contents

Why would you have actionbars filled with portals, or open your spellbook everytime you cast a portal? Just right click on icon or minimap button and you can access all portals so comfortably.

It is designed as DataBroker plug-in, that lets you access all portal and teleport spells from one spot. Addon will be attached to minimap by default, but if you want to move/customize it, you will have to install additional addon like TitanPanel, HidingBar, or Bazooka and there are many more.

Features:

All mage portals, hearthstone and teleporting items available from simple dropdown menu
Minimap button, so you don't have to install any additional addon
Hearthstone location and cooldown in tooltip
Reagent count in tooltip (for Cataclusm Classic)
If hearthstone is on cooldown, Scroll of Recall will be used instead if possible
Can announce, that you're casting a portal

Localization:

If you'd like to add/update localizations, do so here. Then leave a comment on WowAce or on Curse as I'm checking those more often than localization app itself, and I'll repack it.

FAQ:

I managed to hide my minimap icon, how do I turn it on again?
- Just simply type "/portals".
Does it support teleportation items like engineering teleports or Kirin Tor rings?
- Yes.

Jaina's Locket needs to be added to the list of items this addon recognizes. I hate looking in my bags to use it :(

SpareSimian: You can find all info at http://kb.wowace.com/. The packager runs after commit, so the strings are expanded before the downloadable archive is created.

SpareSimian: If you update addons from svn, then you should be advanced enough to handle these problems ;) On the other hand personally I use the english lua file, that you get from releases for developing.

Well, I *did* handle it. ;) I just figured I'd leave a breadcrumb for the next person who ran into this. It took some digging to figure out what was wrong. Does the packager only run server-side? Or can I download a version that can do this kind of expansion on a development client? Can you point me to a link where stuff like that is discussed?

The thing that made it hard was that it's not a "pure Subversion" environment, where Subversion keywords get expanded by Subversion tools. Rather, Curse has its own packaging scheme to allow use of several different tools in a heterogenous way (such as git) and that complicates the development process. (I do approve of the system, though.)

For the FAQ: If you downloaded by Subversion, use the localization link above to get your language strings and export them, then paste the result in the localization file in your checkout. Otherwise you get a lot of "attempt to concatenate field with nil value" errors because the localization strings aren't kept in the repository. (They're expanded by the Curse packaging system, something a stock Subversion client doesn't do.) (How are developers supposed to do that when working in a working copy?)

Rhianna2000: Hi, I never really played a warlock, so I have no idea what spell should be included. But one reason I see to not make it is, that sometiems you will need to summon a minion in combat, and you cant cast spell from the dropdown in combat, so it wouldnt really work. There are other addons that can be used for this and where you can cast in combat...OPie and Geist are some of those that come to my mind right now.

Just wondering if you would consider writing an add on like this for summoning Warlock Minions, soul wells and summoning stones? Love this add on so much, I want it on my Lock as well!

Necrosis will do that. You can select which buttons to show around the main center button, rotate them around to the position you want them to be in, and whether they auto-collapse or stay open. I have only the minion and mount buttons showing, but you can also show curses, spellstones, etc. You can select or deselect amusing phrases for when you summon minion/mount/healthstone/soulstones, select different colors/designs for main button, change size, and select 2 mounts (left click for one, right for the other) of your choosing to summon with the mount button. The main button can be set to do Lifetap, which is the default, or some other spellss. I really love Necrosis for my warlock.

Hmm ye that would be a downside indeed. But it would still be beneficial. So you clear some space on your action bars

Kugle: Hi, not sure if there are any, but it could be possible with few modifications. Only downside is, that it cant be used in combat.

Really great addon :)

But i wonder is there any similar addons for other classes ? I'm thinking of Auras/seals for Palas

I just found this from your comments in FuBar_PortalFu, and I love it! But it doesn't seem to recognize my new Runed Band of the Kirin Tor. Any ideas?

I love this addon. Does one thing, does it better than any similar addons, and doesn't try to do a million other things too. I wish more addons were like this.
