Cartographer 3.0

Table of Contents

This is a map addon for World of Warcraft that replaces the map and offers shiny features.

The idea is for it to work very much like Google Maps, only in-game.

Cartographer 3.0 is brand new, "experimental" version of Cartographer.

The ONLY reason this hasn't been flagged for removal is because China is still on Wrath of the Lich King. I'm sure once they get Cataclysm (which is in the next few months) something will be done about Cartographer.

Instead of QQ'ing over the tragic loss of Cartographer, please download and install the newly supported and currently updating version of QuestHelper (has much of the same functionality + still works with the NEW active developer).

For other functions Cartographer 2 had (3 was still not as updated...), there are other add-ons that work well with both TomTom, Atlas, and QH.

These add-ons (Cartographer 2 & 3) have been abandoned and are no longer being updated by the creators (Ckknight & Arrowmaster) since patch 3.2.5. Neither of the two main developers have the time nor desire to do this currently. There are no plans to do any major bug fixes or updates for Cartographer (either v2 or v3).

In good old days of wow 3.3 to make this addon working I had to edit Utils.lua and replace the line:

Cartographer3_Data_scrollFrame:SetHorizontalScroll(-(Cartographer3_Data_mapView:GetWidth() - Cartographer3_Data_scrollFrame:GetWidth()/Cartographer3_Data.cameraZoom) / 2 - Cartographer3_Data.cameraX)

with the line:

Cartographer3_Data_scrollFrame:SetHorizontalScroll((Cartographer3_Data_mapView:GetWidth() - Cartographer3_Data_scrollFrame:GetWidth()/Cartographer3_Data.cameraZoom) / 2 + Cartographer3_Data.cameraX)

This is what I'm thinking. If people don't update addons in about a 2-3 months, then maybe the author of addons is either quitting, lazy or don't know how to update it at a certain point. Take Bosstalk for example.

i need an addon that works like cartographer cuz carbonite is not working in my pc and i can't find something better

The only thing that i found that works for replacing questhelper and carbonite, is QuestGuru, if you are looking for the questing aspect of these addons. Quest Guru will show you on the map where you need to go, and then if you use the tom tom addon to make a waypoint on the map where questguru shows the quest location, TomTom will put in arrow on your main screen telling you which way to go, how far away it is, and how much time it will take to get there. just thought i would offer, if your looking for the questing help, that is

This addon was broken after patch 3.3. (december 2009) please REMOVE IT CURSE.

The authors posted their reasons in the main cartographer addon page. Pretty simply they no longer have the time or desire to update it.

I'd just like to say, if the two developers are too busy to continue to update it, how about taking someone on, or passing the software on to someone who has the time and might be more willing to do so? I would volunteer myself, however I'm in the process of getting married and that's eating up all my time. but after that (march-ish) I'd be happy to take over :). It seems cartographer has become an essential part of any wow player's life and it seems such a waste to let it wither away. Otherwise I may be able to reccomend a few people who might be willing to take it on sans some basic training :)

ppl , cartographer has been abandoned since patch 3.2.5 so don't ask for updates or anything , i know i hate it myself because its a very good addon and died before its prime and 3.0 is still experimental when they stopped it , more info here on the older but better version , http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/cartographer.aspx
