Cartographer 3.0

Table of Contents

This is a map addon for World of Warcraft that replaces the map and offers shiny features.

The idea is for it to work very much like Google Maps, only in-game.

Cartographer 3.0 is brand new, "experimental" version of Cartographer.

I loved Cartographer 2. Updating to 3.0 was a big mistake. I'm so disappointed. Looks like it's time to switch to another MapMod. :(

I think this version is great. Pretty easy to use and pretty flashy. However it seems the options/configuration button doesn't work, and without the "foglight" feature I won't be using much of it thanks to the new achievements system.

i liked cartographer before they messed it up. the zoom thing is garbage and i find this to be utterly annoying and impossibly inefficient. "old" cartographer is great and i love it, however it has not worked for me since the patch. i will just be patient and uninstall this version.

The zoom is easier to use now, you just don't click, you mouse scroll. The only reason I could see you having a problem with the zoom is if you're using a Mac mouse, then you will just have problems with zoom in general in all versions.

Cart3 works great with GatherMate. Even if some of the other Cart3 features dont work yet this works very well for all gathering tradeskills. There is also a data mod for Gathermate that includes most known locations so you dont have to start from scratch.

From my point of view this AddOn isn't the same like cart2...

This AddOn is like CarboniteQuest...and that AddOn sucks in my view...

Well I think cartographer was good as it was.
Better bugfix Version 2 instead of making "shiny-blinky" new additions that only anoys the user.
I don't wan't to ZOOM,DRAG ... I just wanted a plain map thats not sticky as the one from Blizzard.
Nothing more and nothing less.

before the patch, this version was working beautifully. only downside i saw was no gathering notes, but if you avidly farm then you know where the nodes are anyways. give them some time to solve the problems and it will be restored to fully functional. have a lil patience.

Biggest problem Im having is the zooming in like everyone else. Zoom all the way in to see the terrain and a dark blue screen is all that appears.

And for all those people that are posting (I hate this MOD...It slows my computer down....It doesnt work...It sucks...etc etc..) Stop complaining and go download the regular cartographer, it works fine for me. Not to mention it has only been 2 DAYS since a 1.2 gig patch came out. Give it some time ckknight takes time out of his own life to make something everyone can enjoy.

Do the old cartographer plugins work with this? I haven't yet figured out how to get foglight in this one. It was built in to the last one.

no config options even through interface. full screen option would be nice. these are graphic images, not satellite images, blanking out on zoom does not make since! cart3 has a chance of being great once the bugs are worked out.

I've been a fan of Cartographer since it's initial release, but this is by far the most disappointing result of the new patch I've seen. For one, I VASTLY prefer the old interface; the zooming, scrolling, and highlighting stuff just annoys me, and often bogs down my computer. The "select a zone" feature doesn't take me anywhere, the options menu won't open, opening the map causes me a good heap of lag (consequence of the new interface, no doubt), and zooming in on a city map (to bring it up to standard size) causes it to disappear, only to be replaced with a flat navy blue screen of disappointment.

If nothing else, please just update the maps on Cartographer 2 and leave it at that.. it could be Cartographer 3.0 LITE :)

Remember that this new patch means you have to program addons differently. There's a reason why many addons don't even work now. There's bugs and they need to be fixed. It happened when TBC came out as well, unless you are one of the new players.

Me also: quind of a dark blue. And when I want to edit the Configuration, and then click onto the "C", I've got this: "Interface\AddOns\Cartographer3\Main.lua:2286: attempt to call global 'InterfaceOptionsFrame_OpenToFrame' (a nil value)".
I'm using also QuestHelper, and I was used to use QH with Cartographer and the "Big Arrow" with the distance to go just under. Where is this HUD ?
