Cartographer
CARTOGRAPHER HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED FOR 3.3!!!
DO NOT CREATE BUG REPORTS SAYING IT IS BROKEN!
There are no plans to do any major bug fixes for Cartographer (v2 or v3). If there is an update it will only be a minor fix. (It has already been this way since at least 2008.) Cartographer(v2) uses an outdated framework that will not be updated in the case of major breakages so Cartographer(v2) would require a complete rewrite. Neither of the two main developers (Ckknight and Arrowmaster) have the time nor desire to do this currently. Occasionally a new version might be released to include fixes made by other developers or new versions of embedded libraries.
Cartographer is a modular, lightweight, and efficient framework for manipulation of the world map. It is based on Rock and other libraries of the WoWAce community.
- Battlegrounds : allows viewing of battlegrounds outside of the zone.
- Coordinates : adds coordinates to the bottom of the world map of the player and the cursor.
- Foglight : Shows unexplored areas on the map. replacement for MozzFullWorldMap or Unexplorer. Much more efficient, though.
- Group Colors : turns all your party's and your raid's POIs into circles colored based on class, and shows a number on them based on their raid group.
- Instance Maps : shows maps of instances.
- Instance Notes : adds boss notes and such to instance maps.
- Look 'n' Feel : allows you to change the transparency, position, and scale of the world map.
- Notes : lets you put notes on the map, similar to MapNotes.
- Zone Info : on hovering over a zone, it will show the levels of the zone, the instances in the zone, their levels, and the group size the instance is made for (e.g. 5-man, 40-man).

Posted Jun 30, 2007Is there any way to embiggen the arrow that represents "me" on the map? I like to make an "on the move" profile where I make a tiny map in the corner of my screen (simulating the battle-maps in battle grounds and world PvP zones), problem is, my "me" arrow is just too small to see, so I'd like to make it crazy big. Is there a way to get this added, a way to adjust it now, or a plug-in that'll take care of it for me?

Posted Jun 30, 2007I create great quest notes and I want to be able to export all of my notes so that I can post the file on my guild website and fellow members can download the file and import the notes into their cartographier.lua file. Is there such a functionality with Cartographer?
And yes, I have shared notes using the note sharing feature but that means having to go to each and every note to share.

Posted Jun 29, 2007I just downloaded this addon for the first time and being on a Macintosh, it warns me anytime I'm downloading something that may contain an applicaiton. Well, while downloading this, I got that warning that there is an applicaiton in this download. My question is; Is there supposed to be an application included in this download? If not, there may be a virus. If yes, its the first time ever that while downloading an addon, for me at least, Id be downloading an application along with it. And if there is supposed to be an application, what is it?

Posted Jun 29, 2007@DEV: You should only get the players map coordinates when the panel ( the map ) is visible. Your addon consumes performance even when it's not needed.

Posted Jun 28, 2007I cant get the outline of a battleground map to vanish completely anymore with shift-mousewheel. Zone maps still have this feature. But with BG's the outline wont transparant out. With older versions that was possible.

Posted Jun 26, 2007I have installed this ten times and no luck.. Since the update. I got the updated version from this site. Can someone give me some simple and basic directions on what files go where.
Someone told me to take the cartographer.lua and put it in the saved variables folder, is there more to this other then putting the folders in the addon section of the wow folder?
I want to track quests and im not gettign anything. Pls give me some input on what ive described.

Posted Jun 19, 2007How do you get it to gather herb and mining nodes and such and get updates to these things from other people on the server automatically? I downloaded this and turned everything on, but it's not doing any of that. Doesn't gather herbs, mining, or treasure chest spawns at all, even though it's set to "Enabled". So how do I get it to work?

Posted Jun 12, 2007LISTEN UP PEOPLE! Curse Gaming is not the end all, be all of mod sites! I love Curse too, but expand your horizons. Just because the Project Manager doesn't post here or may not read this comment section doesn't mean he doesn't care about fixing the bugs in his mod and certainly doesn't mean he is lazy. ckknight has done some of the best work with mods for WoW and for those of you who don't know, he has many mods that he maintains including FuBar! Furthermore, many of the Ace mod creators don't read these comments or post here, rather you can find their work, comments, forums, etc. via this webpage,

Posted Jun 11, 2007Is anyone else having a problem getting the background transparency to work? Up until a couple versions ago, I've always been able to effectively "trim" around the outside of the map, making it transparent (shift mousewheel) but now, all it does is adds a big black frame around it... Pretty annoying.

Posted Jun 10, 2007yes he updates daily, but doesnt fix the bugs that we are having :P on top of which, many of us cant run WAU due to the .net framework.. @huldu ALSO gatherer is way better than this mod.. :P @tweter try a combination of Gatherer, MozzFullWorldMap, and AlphaMap.. works smooth for me and i beleive there is a tool to take your gathered nodes from cartographer files and put them in to gatherer files. so you dont lose any nodes.

Posted Jun 9, 2007Great addon, much better than Gatherer. Just one thing that really annoys me. Its the crap with the map. Is there any way to keep the original map without the resize, pvp crap etc added. I just want to see the mining nodes, nothing else, really.
PvP'ing with cartographer was a horrible experience.
