Misspelled is a chat spell-checker addon. Misspelled watches the chat messages you type, highlighting any misspellings and offering suggestions for any misspelled words it finds.

I've included in the US & UK English dictionaries some Warcraft specific proper nouns, including the zone names, and all dungeon and raid boss names. Your friends and guild members are also automatically added, and shouldn't get flagged as misspelled words..Misspelled utilizes the HunSpell style, affix (prefix/suffix) compressed dictionaries. The same ones used in Chrome, Firefox, and OpenOffice. Misspelled provides suggestions based on words that phonetically sound like the misspelled word, along with providing suggestions based on common mistakes of spelling. While Misspelled can detect nearly the same number of individually correctly spelled words as OpenOffice, it's suggestion engine, is "somewhat" less complicated, than the HunSpell implementation.

Misspelled includes dictionaries for US-English, UK-English, French, German, Italian, Russian (experimental), and Spanish. The appropriate dictionary, for your game client locale, will auto-load, or you can manually choose what dictionary to use from Misspelled's Interface/Addons options page.

Misspelled works with WIM (Wow Instant Messenger), and is compatible with: Prat, Skinner, and Chatter.

Usage note: Spell Checking is performed as you complete each word you've typed. The last word in the chat box, isn't spell checked until you type some form of word terminator, either a period, space, or some other word separating punctuation. Spell checking is very fast; but isn't performed needlessly, while a word is being typed.

Misspelled is compatible with Wow, Wow Classic/Wrath/Cata If you are having problems with Misspelled, please try updating or disabling all other chat addons you may be running.

I have been using your addon for a couple days and have noticed whenever i make many typos in a row adn dont fix em, it will sent my chat out as a blank message or partically black from the part where i start mistyping. i havent tried out the newest version yet, but i didnt see any one else having this problem (problably because they accually fix there typos... i just like to see all my mistakes :) just letting ya know if this is an unknown problem or not. thanks.

Ya, try out the newest version. It's much improved, and should fix that very problem.. I need to remove any misspelled highlighting before sending the chat message to the server, or you get disconnected. That entire routine got rewrote (and tested *wink) today.

I'm still seeing the occasional error with 1 character words. humm..

Whoops, looks like there's a glitch when first loading guild information.
Open the Guild social dialog, then do a /console reloadui
Should work around the problem.
I'll get a fix out ASAP.

It would be awesome once the addon is more refined, to auto-replace the text in your chat window (before you send it), but allow you to override it if the addon didn't pick up a correct spelling.

Either way I love the idea of this addon - I have so many bad spelling habits and I'd love to correct it ;)

Currently one of my IRC addons actually does this and apparently is where I got the idea from. It auto-corrects while you type so if you type things like "ur" then hit space - it replaces it with "you are"...immediately after it replaces it, you can hit backspace to 'undo' the correction.

I'm going to try an figure out the Chatter issues. Chatter changes the editbox frame out so they can highlight the border and do a few other things. I think I just need to hook there frame's MouseUp events to get right click support working.

Nope there isn't any config options yet. Nothing really to config. I can imagine an editor for the user dictionary would be helpful someday.

So far I'm loving the idea of this addon :) I am having a bit of a problem with the right click menu showing up when I have chatter enabled however. I've tried disabling each of chatter's changes to find which is the culprit but no luck. Disabling chatter completely makes misspelled work perfectly.

It is still showing suggestions inside the chat box, so it's still helpful for terrible spellers like myself :)

Is there any config for Misspelled that I'm missing?

Aha, the conflict is somewhere in Chatter's EditBox.lua. I removed the file and restarted (leaving the rest of chatter intact) and Misspelled worked fine.

ya - i was gona suggest to also see if you could add NPC names, and Mobs, bosses (its a stretch and a long process) but its less work we'd have to to when adding to dictionary :D

I should have user dictionaries working shortly. I also need to add more Warcraft specific proper nouns to the standard dictionary. I'm going to add the professions, all all your guild player names to the ignore list.

ill add to what i ment by ADD - exactly : i went into the .lua file and redid a bunch of lines so that certain words actully whould be considered misspelled and have the correct spelling asociated with em. And although the add to dictionary function is giving every1 i talked to erros, its the same concept as editing the file as adding to the .dic folder file.

So far this works very well - i extensively tested it ingame (and i SUCK at spelling by default) so : what needs to be done by 1st time users is to add ALOT of different misspellings to the dictionary. For example warcrfat, the addon cant find a similar spelling, so in this case - youd simply add this word to your ditcionary. other then initial setup - i have actually begun to spell better thanks to this addon. Thankyou.

Loving the add-on only thing is the highlighted colour a misspelled word appears in is very subtle, is there a way to change the highlighter colour of a misspelled word?
