PitBull Unit Frames 4.0
PitBull Unit Frames 4.0
Woof. Arf. Yip.
Getting Started:
You can help translate PitBull for your language with the localization tool.
Classic
PitBull works with WoW Classic! Classic Era/Vanilla is supported in
v4.3.x-vanilla
releases. Cataclysm Classic is supported in v4.2.x
releases
(the same releases retail use).
Classic Era caveats:
- Aura duration is not available from the API, so PitBull uses LibClassicDurations to show them. The duration can be inaccurate if it's affected by rank or talents.
- Cast info is only available for your spells from the API. PitBull uses LibClassicCasterino to show cast bars for other units, but this can be inaccurate since there is a lot of guess-work involved.

I find it really odd that you guys are having worse performance since all we've really done is do things that would improve performance. That said last night on Kologard I did have some performance issues. I'm not sure if it was something else or PB4 since I didn't have any other issues on other fights.
Disabling 5-8 in a 25 man raid probably isn't going to do much. Though mine are disabled in that raid size.
I'm also not experiencing any sort of memory growth. My PB4 stays around 1.5-1.8 MB always. I have a similar setup to you. Though the only modules I have turned off are ThreatBar, CombatText and Border.
So it's possible there's something in ThreatBar or CombatText causing you issues but we haven't made any changes there recently.
With the newest version I couldn't reproduce memory usage of >10MB in AV like I had in Ulduar-25 on Monday. However, disabling the dogtags module lowers the memory usage from like 3.3MB to 2.3MB when idle in AV, whith just 5 groups (25-man) enabled (pets disabled). Framerate was also not that bad as on monday, looked rather "normal". Disabling other modules gives no noticable improvements (well disabling health bar probably would. ;)
Huge lag spikes occur when someone joins the battleground or I enable pets and e.g. hunters are dismounting. I'll take a further look at it when raiding 25-mans again tomorrow evening.
Toml: I am having similar issues on my Mage. After updating yesterday I am having significantly worse performance out of this addon. I hadn't updated Pitbull for about 2 days before, and I am going to try going back to the older one to see if it alleviates any of the issues as well.
Did you have noticable performance issues with later versions? I think it might be, because I use many dogtags (hots, beacon, sacred shield, Shieldwall/Barkskin etc. on tanks, icons for ulduardebuffs like Unbalancing Strike, Sanity, Bombs on XT, etc.) in my raidframes. Just a guess.
a) Paladin
b) Modules I switched off: Border, Castbar, Highlight, Portrait, Sounds
c) Raid, Player, Target, ToT, Focus, ToF, Group 1 to 8 are always enabled. I use the method to build a Unit-group for every Raidgroup with filter set to the associated grp. Maybe I should disable grp5 to grp8 in a 25 man raid. Could this be a problem although they are empty?
d) I tried to figure it out when exactly, but the framerate always starts dropping at the beginning of a fight, throughout the whole fight, so nothing special. Memory usage was also going up from sth. like 2.5MB to >10MB. I actually didn't test it that long during the raid, cause healing Mimiron in P2 with 2-3fps is ... well ... tricky, so I switched back to the older version rather quickly.
But if I find the time tomorrow, I will try to test it in AV with 5 grps enabled and switch off some of the modules, especially Dogtags.
Thanks so far.
reported this at the official thread already, but having major trouble with the bar "fullness"/text upgrading properly. This is mostly an issue with my own healthbar, the target of target seems to be working properly.
toml, Really not sure what the problem you are having is. I did 25 man Yogg-Saron and Iron Council last night and had no noticeable performance issues. This isn't to say that they don't exist. Just my config, hardware, etc don't expose them.
With the information you've given me it's pretty hard to proceed. Things that would be helpful:
a) What class are you? b) What modules do you have enabled? c) What units and groups do you have enabled? d) Did you notice anything specific that was going on when you had the fps drop (e.g. someone died, someone took a lot of damage)?
The more information you give me the more likely I am to find the problem. Especially when I'm not seeing it myself.
I've tried vers.r20090518073645 in Ulduar-25 yesterday. Performance was even worse than with the version I used before (r20090510210454) despite all the perf improvements. fps was dropping to 2-3 fps during fights (idle: 50-60fps). Using the older version (r20090510210454) the fps "just" drops down to 10-15fps.
CureClient updates are some sort of bug with Curse's website, hopefully it'll get fixed here soon.
Updates fail for me aswell, John. Apparently only for PB4. Odd...
I never haven't noticed any issues; although I don't display raid frames when the group exceeds 25 members. But I'll take your word for it seeing as you're an Author lol.
Any idea what the deal is with the curse updater and the failed downloads, or is that just me?
4.0 has performance issues, seriously go try to BG with it. Not good.
[[psyn://addonservice.curse.com/addonservice.asmx/GetAddOn?pAddOnId=7522|Install via curse client]] seems to have stopped working; for me at least. It detects that there's been an update, however I get "Download Failed" when attempting to update from within the client.
I was also wondering why you guys haven't hosted 4.0 on curse. It seems form a user's perspective like it's more then ready to replace the 3.0 currently hosted.
Keep up the good work! I love the new config layout!
Because a cosmetic bug is not at the top of my list right now. I'm more concerned with performance tuning.
The Player-Frame Border Problem is still there =(. Why u don't fix this cosmetic Problem ?
@ geombear4: Please consider the first difference from PB3
"It's not done"
so things like performance/ memory usage are still going to change.
does anyone else's FPS drop a ton in fights like hodir, etc? i think i'm getting 10-20 less frames per sec with pitbull4 than i did with 3 during these "active" fights in ulduar. had 5 fps during hodir last night
and in general wow just feels sluggish, like it's stuttering. my ping hasn't changed, i just switched from yata to some similar totem addon, and pitbull 3 ->4, and also added ora2. so I'm guessing it's pitbull4 causing most or all of this stuttering-ness
Apparently it's 292 in a 25 man raid because in a 40 man AV I'm getting 418.
I'm getting exactly 292 errors when something happens in my 25 man raid. Pitbull4_Groups_PartyUnitButton & GridLayoutHeader getting blocked.
What happened to party and party pet targets?
My bad, i was looking under units instead of groups :) Thanks!
