Rarity
NEW: Rarity now has a Discord server!
If you're interested in following the development process or contributing, you should also check out the official GitHub repository. We're always in need of more hands to help us make the addon better!
Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.

Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

I found some bug..
Using achaeology, the addon block the solutions, and show wrong numbers about the quantity of fragments.
When I disable it, everything works perfectly.
Rarity is known to cause issues with the default Archaeology UI. Install "Archy", another add-on, to get around these issues.
Does htis work with macs? The reason I ask is I can't seem to get it to work doing my normal instal for add ons.
All addons work equally on Macs and PCs. Rarity is working at this time as far as I'm aware, but I haven't tried it on a Mac recently.
I can confirm that Rarity is working properly on Macs at this time, installed via the Curse Client.
Thanks for such a great addon! I don't know if you've seen this yet, but in case you haven't:
Blizzard is working on an API call for addons like Rarity when it comes to handling AOE looting:

@elionor
Where does Rarity get it's drop chance from?
As you know, Blizzard does not publish the drop chance for anything. Luckily, WowHead tracks the actual drop rate for most things. I've done extensive research on WowHead to determine a best guess at the drop rate for any item. Don't agree with me? You can change the drop rate from the Options screen—you aren't stuck with what I decided on.
Archaeology projects are particularly difficult to estimate. For those, I've had to read through hundreds of individual comments on WowHead and determine a best guess. In reality, archaeology projects vary wildly from one extreme to the other, so there isn't really any practical way to know the average number of projects it takes to obtain an item.
Archaeology pets are not included in Rarity
The only archaeology pet that is considered actually rare is the Crawling Claw. However, this item has a problem because it shows up in your archaeology journal as Mummified Monkey Paw. At this time, Rarity does not support archaeology detection for items whose journal name differs from the actual item name, so Crawling Claw is not available for detection.
where do you get your percents from? some of those numbers do not sound right and why dont you have the archeology pets listed?
@elionor
Hey Elionor! I'll try to answer your questions.
At this time, Rarity is working as intended. If you have a specific issue you'd like help with, please describe it here, and I will attempt to assist.
ok i am having trouble figuring have the features that this post says this addon has it says you can add stuff but you literately have to create the entry which means you got enter all the data your self witch means everything has to be perfect and even then it does not count properly and why does it still say that invincible and mimirons head have 100% drop chance? it says it keeps track of mounts and pets i already have but it still lists allot of mounts and pets i have already have, it says it automatically scans my kill stats but the only entry i have is for the ony mount the kara mount ashes of al'ar even though i have killed the zg bosses around 60 times i have made over a thousand attempts at both the sea turtle and the sewer rat and several hundreds attempts at the whelps
Will do. Figured it was something I was missing, so I'll check it out.
Both scenarios are possible with Rarity, it sounds like you're not configuring them quite right. Unfortunately, I won't have time for a while to go in and try to reproduce what you're doing. If you check out the default items in Rarity, you should be able to see how to configure them.
Couple of things I'm trying to figure out if they're possible. First off tried adding http://www.wowhead.com/item=3468 (Design: Chaotic Skyfire Diamond) which is dropped only by 1 mob. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=19768 (Coilskar Siren) But when I enter the information, despite not having killed one, it's giving me a number of them dropped.
It seems to bug up on that situation not sure if I'm putting something in wrong or what.
Second thing I'm not sure if there's a way to fix are cata zone drops, including dungons and raids. I tried adding Design: Jeweler's Amber Monocle, which can drop off any cata mob, but I can't seem to configure Rarity to count that one right. Is it just not possible to track something that could be zone/raid/dungon drop?
@r0d94
r120 was just released, and it should have automatically picked up the Portuguese translation. Thanks!
You could release a version in Portuguese? The translation is already complete.
Just wanted to mention - You seem to be missing the two Brewfest mounts from your default tracking list.
r120 contains the Brewfest mount. Thanks!

Rarity is counting the mount drops in LFR. This should not happen.
I've tried changing the count and it'll always reset to the old count. WTF!?
hey i have this issue that the blizzard tooltip for the mounts and pets, and the rarity tooltip are overlapping each other when i hover over it, is there a way to fix this?
