Rarity
NEW: Rarity now has a Discord server!
If you're interested in following the development process or contributing, you should also check out the official GitHub repository. We're always in need of more hands to help us make the addon better!
Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.
Looking for Rarity Item Packs? Click here.
Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoy it. :)
I'll get those pets added right away.
How are the percentages calculated?
Take a look at this extensive article written by the creator of Bunny Hunter. Rarity uses the same calculations.
:) In the description up at the top of this page, there is a link to the article. There's also a link to Frequently Asked Questions which also links to the article. But I'm happy to post it for you as well!
Is the Sea Turtle mount a confirmed drop for Draenor pools? I noticed Rarity tracks it, but the achievement itself does NOT list Draenor as a drop place. :/
Looks like it's probably not fishable in Draenor yet, but they will probably add it to Draenor pools at some point like they did in MoP.
Okie, thanks for the prompt reply! <3
I'm getting frequent "script ran too long" errors, and every so often I will lose my tooltips altogether:

The function that triggered the error you posted is almost never called. Please let me know what you were doing to reproduce the issue. It should not be possible.
The tooltip disappears in combat. This is intentional.
Rarity tracks some of my chars while it doesnt track others which I find it odd as the addon is enabled on all chars. I havent changed any settings at all (install, forget, enjoy). So this behavior has persisted for the last 2-3 months now. Newest (r370) is installed atm..
I have read the newest +10 pages of comments and I havent seen any similar problem. So have I missed something? And how do I fix this? :)
Which specific items are not working for you? As far as I know, there isn't any reason Rarity would work on some characters but not others. I've recently used it across several alts and it's working. Note that Rarity will not track most items if you already have the item. To track an item you already have, check Repeatable in the options.
It seems to be a profile issue as I have apparently made a profile and used this on some chars when I installed it 2 years ago. I have even checked that part, but missed it somehow.
Sorry for wasting your time. :)
Ps. And thank you very very much for this little gem! =)
Oh well. While I write this I farm the mount in VoA on 8 chars (prolly 250-300 attempts and still no mount). I slowly set all lvl 90 chars to the same profile. One of them was already set to my own profile, but I didnt get a count when I killed the first boss. I set it to the default profile, killed the second boss and still got no count. I changed back to my own profile, killed the third boss and still no count. Now I'm going for the last boss.
So I can try resetting my profiles which I really dont want to. What else can I do?
I just tested, and Koralon didn't work, but the other three did work. I'll have to come back next week to see if I can figure out what else might be going on here. Blizzard has a history of bugs in this zone with the boss kill statistics, so there might be something funny going on.
I've just pushed out r372 which may help alleviate the problem you experienced in VoA. I'll try to test it again soon (with WoD coming out tonight, I probably won't get to this for a while).
Thank you !!!
i haven't messed with anything to do with tooltip. How do I look into that?
I just pushed out a new build that won't let you see the tooltip in combat, so it'll fix whatever that problem was, most likely. No need to look into it :)

Are you farming with the tooltip open somehow? That's not supported. Based on your error log it looks like it.
As of this morning 11-11-14, rarity is still freezin when looting mobs. I am trying to farm bloodsail in STV for the world drop pets and the freeze on looting gets progressively longer as I go on. Its been going up to about 15 seconds or more.
Nice, BUT also collapsed headers will disappear (at least for me ^^). I collapsed the pet header and now I can't get it back, because it disappeared :( Any way to get it back?
