PitBull Unit Frames 4.0
PitBull Unit Frames 4.0
Woof. Arf. Yip.
Getting Started:
You can help translate PitBull for your language with the localization tool.
Classic
PitBull works with WoW Classic! Classic Era/Vanilla is supported in
v4.3.x-vanilla
releases. Cataclysm Classic is supported in v4.2.x
releases
(the same releases retail use).
Classic Era caveats:
- Aura duration is not available from the API, so PitBull uses LibClassicDurations to show them. The duration can be inaccurate if it's affected by rank or talents.
- Cast info is only available for your spells from the API. PitBull uses LibClassicCasterino to show cast bars for other units, but this can be inaccurate since there is a lot of guess-work involved.

Landplant, hold down shift while moving them.
Is there a way to turn off the sticky bars? That is when they get close to each they go to each other, I'm pretty sure there is, but I cannot recall where I saw this option.
"PB4 doesn't have the issues with players entering the group in combat or leaving. I spent a fair amount of time insuring that this isn't the case. So I really don't appreciate that you posted here complaining about an issue that isn't even an issue anymore. Believe me I found the problems with players leaving and joining group in combat exceedingly annoying."
I was illustrating why I had wanted to try pitbull4 in the first place, and that longstanding bug had already imposed a bad taste in my mouth regarding the pitbull name.
"We're aware that the defaults are not really good right now. We really do need to make some more layouts. However inheritance is not in the picture. It's a pretty difficulty thing to handle from a configuration standpoint. We could provide checkboxes on every setting to say if it's being inherited from the parent, but that would utterly cluttered. Dropdowns could have another option, Toggle options could be tri-state, but what about sliders, and text boxes. "
Well, without inheritance I don't see the feasibility of configuration unless you already know exactly what you want before you start assigning layouts to groups. The mod is already very cluttered as far as having too many sliders and checkboxes and sub-windows of subcategories, I don't see how adding one for inheritance would make the clutter any worse, and it would really aid in ease of use. Maybe it could be an optional module at the very least, perhaps disabled by default.
Unfortunately my WTF folder was cleaned out when I made the switch over to STUF.
Regardless of my opinion on PB, I am glad to hear that the mod is still progressing nicely and wish you the best of luck. If there was one best set of frames for everybody, there'd be no point in developing more!
- any chance there will be a tutorial on how to do it? e.g configuring 10, 25 man raids and whatnot.
- How about having templates for people who dont knwo hwo to configure.
just suggestions....amzing addon, keep up the good work =]
mh...I used Pitbull 4 for a while now, used it in Alpha long ago. I can't say it has bad bugs. I completed Ulduar with it, many hard modes too and for me, a lot of other unit frame addons just miss features this addon provides. Especially as a healer there are many things I would not want to miss. (The health text configuration as an example, or the way I can configure ducursable debuffs). I really LOVE Pitbull 4 and even if there are yet things to come, for me these are all just pluses.
This is not true when there is only one icon holding the middle position (ie the icon is dead center)...
In Pitbull 3, two icons holding the middle position were centered as a group...

Don't use Alpha/Betas?
JollyRanch3r, please open a ticket for your enhancement request.
rach3l, Umm PB4 doesn't have the issues with players entering the group in combat or leaving. I spent a fair amount of time insuring that this isn't the case. So I really don't appreciate that you posted here complaining about an issue that isn't even an issue anymore. Believe me I found the problems with players leaving and joining group in combat exceedingly annoying.
We're aware that the defaults are not really good right now.
Considering that you can copy profiles at will it's pretty easy to inherit things through when you need to make several things based on the same layout but with some differences. You just make the base layout first, copy them and modify.
I realize this system has a bit of learning curve after coming from the other one but it really is a lot better than the old one.
As far as your double party frame. That's pretty odd. I've had some reports of things like that but in every case the person has always written back to say that they'd accidentally gotten one of their other groups also set ot the Unit group Party. But I'll look into it. If you still have a copy of your WTF file I'd be interested in looking at it.
But without some additional information I'm not really able to duplicate this.
I apologize if my tone was harsh. But I do not feel that Pitbull 4 is up to the standard of even Pitbull 3 yet. As a dabbling developer myself, I feel that it's important to point out such opportunities for improvement for the betterment of the mod itself, and the developing community.
The efforts are appreciated but it needs a lot of work. I don't see the point in tiptoeing around necessary changes, or mincing words. Especially when the software comes with unworkable bugs.
It's just my opinion, take it or leave it.
First off i wanna say i love the improvements over pitbull 3, I just have a feature request. I was wondering if you could add a module that allowed for a noise to be played when someone acquires a debuff that i can cure, much like healbot or grid. I really want to use pitbull for all my frames but im so used to that little noise that i'm afraid my decursing would suffer without it. If there is already a solution that allows me to use pitbull 4 then i would be glad to hear it. Keep up the great work!
